Description

What if your life doesn't have much to show for itself?
What if you never get a raise, never a promotion?
What if in the "Land of the Free," debt is your master?
What if Sunday after Sunday, you're told about the great things God wants to do with you, but all that ever really comes of it is the hope of greatness?
What if the closest you get to ministry is teaching a Sunday school class of two siblings and their cousin?
What if the only person you lead to Christ is that rather uneducated fellow on the side of the street with the three teeth?
What if your dreams remain dreams?
What if you amount to nothing more than average?

What if we take it further:
What if the child dies?
What if the wife does leave?
What if Dad is a bastard?
What if Mom is clinical?
What if the affliction doesn't cease?
What if the persecution doesn't end?
What if the world despises you?

You're really only left with one question:
Is He still worthy?

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Heb. 4:15

We are never worthy.

He is -always- worthy.

He never promised us heaven on Earth. He only promised to be with us through whatever came.

Thankfully, He is faithful Who promised... and He is not a man that He should lie.

"He didn't bring us this far to leave us -- He didn't teach us to swim to let us drown ... He didn't build His home in us to move away... He didn't lift us up to let us down."

Sometimes He gives us answers... other times, He -is- the answer. Either way, He's always with us. He never leaves us nor forsakes us.

And, when our time here is done, we have a promise that we can look forward to something a whole lot better than anything that we can find anywhere on Earth. This is temporary -- Eternity awaits.

Sometimes a current problem can loom large in our awareness and emotions. At those times, it can be helpful to pull back and remember that "now" and the current situation isn't all that there is or ever will be. Better things are coming, sooner or later. This life is the "work," the next is the reward.
